It is worth noting that the engraving on aluminum tags often wears off over time, meaning they will need to be replaced regularly to ensure contact details are visible if your dog gets lost. 

4. Plastic: Plastic dog tags are lightweight and inexpensive. Due to the nature of plastic they may fade and discolour over time as well as bend and break. They are best suited to pets who don't spend much time outdoors or who are less active.
