What are the different types of dog name tags?

There are a few different types of dog name tags available including enamel, stainless steel, aluminum and plastic tags.

Here is a comparison of these three types of tags and what to look for in choosing a good quality tag:

1. Enamel tags: Enamel tags are made from metal and coated in a layer of enamel, which gives them a colorful and stylish appearance. If not cared for properly, the enamel coating can chip or scratch over time which can affect the appearance of the tag. Our Enamel tags are all made with 100% stainless steel backing to ensure durability and longevity.

2. Stainless steel tags: Stainless steel tags are known for their durability and resistance to rust. They are a good choice for dogs that spend a lot of time outdoors or in humid environments, as they are less prone to corrosion than other types of metal tags. They are also easy to clean and maintain.

3. Aluminum tags: Aluminum tags are lightweight and less expensive than other types of metal tags. However, they are not as durable as stainless steel or enamel tags, and they can become dented or scratched easily. They are also more prone to corrosion, especially in humid environments. Aluminum tags are usually found in pet and hardware stores like Petbarn, Pet Stock and Bunnings. It is worth noting that the engraving on aluminum tags often wears off over time, meaning they will need to be replaced regularly to ensure contact details are visible if your dog gets lost.

4. Plastic: Plastic dog tags are lightweight and inexpensive. Due to the nature of plastic they may fade and discolour over time as well as bend and break. They are best suited to pets who don't spend much time outdoors or who are less active.

When choosing the type of tag for your dog, it's important to look for a tag that is made from high-quality materials and has a durable finish. Stainless steel and enamel tags are generally considered to be superior to aluminum and plastic tags due to their durability and resistance to corrosion, which is why we produce only these types of tags.

It is also a good idea to choose a tag with a good-quality engraving, as this will ensure that the information on the tag is easy to read and lasts for a long time.
